About Canyon Lake
The Town of Canyon Lake, Texas is located adjacent to Canyon Lake.  This stunning town is located about 20 miles  north-by-northwest of New Braunfels and about 40 miles north-by-northeast of Downtown San Antonio.  Residents attend the  Comal Independent School District.
The Canyon Lake CDP (census designated place) Â includes a number of small, unincorporated communities surrounding the City of Canyon Lake, including Sattler, Startzville, Canyon City, Cranes Mill, and Hancock. Communities located on the fringes of the CDP are Fischer, Spring Branch, and Smithson Valley. Â There are approximately 28,000 residents in the Canyon Lake CDP area.
Things to Do in Canyon Lake
Canyon Lake is a town known for its abundant water recreation. The lake has 80 miles of scenic shoreline is located on the Guadalupe River in Comal County, Texas..  There is outdoor recreation, including hiking trails and parks.  There are eight park  along the lake  for people to camp, swim, boat, fish, picnic or go birding.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages the eight public parks along the lake shoreline.  Cranes Mill Park and Comal Park are located on the south side of the lake .  Potters Creek Park, Canyon Park, Jacobs Creek Park, North Park, Overlook Park, and Guadalupe Park are all located on the north side of the lake.  These various parks offer camping, trailer, and picnicking areas, and public boat ramps.  Overall, there are 23 boat ramps, two marinas, multiple campgrounds, a country club, and a yacht club.
In addition, there is a  par 72 golf course with well kept fairways and hills.  The course has a great view of the lake and live oak trees.  Canyon Lake Gorge is  now an official  Texas Hill Country landmark and a must see for visitors.   Since the lake is one of deepest in Texas this is popular place to scuba dive.
