The City of Garden Ridge is two and one-half miles west I 35  and 20 miles north of  San Antonio.   The city  is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area and has a total  of 7.3 square miles.   Garden Ridge is located in Comal County and the residents go to Comal Independent School District.   Students attend Garden Ridge Elementary School, Canyon Middle School, and Canyon High School.

After the  community was incorporated in  1972, it became the first new town in the county in 127 years. It had a population of 230 in 1972 and 647 in 1980. Currently, the  population is 3300.

The Community and Event Center is a 11,000  square foot facility  that features a large pavilion,  a 6000 square foot open area, a large kitchen  and a concession room.   The city has several parks for it’s residents to enjoy.   Paul Davis Park is the largest park and there are several pocket parks throughout the community.

Garden Ridge has a small town atmosphere, but offers big city conveniences with San Antonio being just minutes away.
